I believe that looking over the list of books at the URL below may repay your attention.
<"http://www.nowbooks.biz/engineering/p/Propulsion_Technology/index.ht m"> There are three pages of titles there, and they all look very good -- including one I happen to be somewhat familiar with. And that one is ADVANCED SPACE PROPULSION SYSTEMS by Martin Tajmar, New York: Springer Wein, 2003, ISBN 3-211-83862-7, 130p, SC/FCI, $39.95. I looked it over at Stanford Bookstore. Here are my notes on it: -------- A very wide-ranging technical survey of propulsion concepts, including blue-sky concepts like antimatter propulsion and gravity control. Has plenty of good color pictures. But to me, on glancing through, it seemed too credulous on the more far-out stuff like the Podnetkov experiments. It also is poorly researched and poorly edited. From page 38: "First flight tests [of X-33] were scheduled for 2002 after some problems with the lightweight tanks. Currently, the program is on hold. If successful, Lookheed {sic} Martin intends to proceed with the full-scale SSTO model called Venture Star." -------- I'd say this is a book to avoid.
