as with most things ion engines have their uses and they are good at what
they do. there are however some areas where they arent so good.

hmmm thaught, CD/NOx hybrid. get a small pile of CD's (say star office) use
that as the grain, and you could have a litterally open source powered
rocket. the Al in the CD's would make for a pretty nice show methinks ;->.
