When we conceived of testing gizmocopter some time ago, I proposed the idea of parking gizmocopter on a ball joint that was on top of a stick. The idea with this contraption was that we could test the orientation components of the flight control system while suspended above and away from objects dangerous to gizmocopter (such as the earth). To that end I found a small chrome doorknob at Home Depot that I believed would've sufficed as a reasonably spherical ball joint. The rest of the joint would've required some mild machining of a block of scrap tephlon. I still think the idea has merit and might be adaptable to POGO.
