A TIG welder has arrived. Dave M will use this to assemble POGO's frame.
He needs some help on Saturday to move the welder to CDI, as this unit
weighs in at 250 lbs. Three more pairs of hands ought to do it, Ah-nold
being busy doing another sort of heavy lifting in Sacramento.
Due to increased workload (as noted above), Dave M needs programming help.
This involves writing a routine to pass a few integer variables back and
forth between Pierce's simulator and the Gizmocopter flight software.
Several members volunteered; the first with working code gets 15 more
minutes of fame.
SMARTFLIGHT

Dave Weinshenker
The Petaluma Club lives! For those who missed the "fun", here's the story
(as reported by Sean): After delivering a lecture on the fire danger
existing at the time, the lecturer flew a rocket that accidentally started
a grass fire at the launch site. No great harm resulted, but the city of
Petaluma now insists that the club get a special use permit for every
launch event. Club members are in the process of getting the signoffs
required. So it seems early fears that this launch opportunity would go
away were unfounded.
Also, there is a launch event at Fresno this weekend.

New Business
------------
Chuck and Al (treasurer of the Adobe Valley Association) are concerned
about liability resulting from our activities at the Ranch, since we are
too active to be classified as "sporadic visitors" for insurance purposes.
The need, therefore, is for ERPS to buy its own liability insurance. Pierce
is looking into this and has found an underwriter that specializes in
policies for California non-profits. More about this in upcoming meetings.
Meeting #270 adjourned at 9:50 PM. The next meeting will take place on 6
November 2003 at the Denny's on Bowers Avenue in Santa Clara. Watch the
list for full driving directions.
Respectfully submitted,
Chris Winter
