When I first saw the clip I thought it had been edited because
of the see to sound, as you said.

I thought the visual image had been recorded with a camera from
the point of the video, but the sound had been recorded with another
device at another point, and then combined together.
So I asked Mr. Kobayashi about that, and he didn't say yes.

Knowing the footage was real, I agree it was somehow tricky.
