In this connection it's worth reminding the list that the Stanford dish
was used to rescue an amateur satellite (OSCAR 10?) back in the '80s. The
satellite had two transmitters, for different amateur bands, and both had
gotten turned on simultaneously. As a result the receivers were saturated
and the satellite was effectively uncommandable. With its enormous gain,
the Stanford dish was able to put enough ERP at the satellite to override
the interference and restore operation.
