I know that I, at least, don't want to be a passive implementor of a finished spec. I want to be an active contributor to a spec in progress. However, since there is no spec -- at least, not one I can lay my hands on -- I'll have to wait until the "people in the know" finish their implementations and then write a spec. That's OK with me, I guess, but it seems to bar collaboration in the short term. Once you've finished your implementation and written a spec about it, I hope you won't discount feedback by saying, "Well, our implementation is already done, and it's too late for major changes -- why didn't you give us this feedback earlier?"
