SEbagai contohnya yaitu bahwa di daerah yang mayoritas Kristen ternyata pengangkatan guru agama juga tetap 1:10 padahal seharusnya proporsional. Departemen Agama disinyalir sebagai Departemen Agama Islam, yang lainnya hanya pelengkap, dan ini bisa dilihat dari pernyatan Gus Dir sendiri. Adanya alasan bahwa Islam adalah mayoritas jelas sangat mengabaikan keadaan realitas bahwa sebelum merdeka, masyarakat kita adalah majemuk. Bahwa kemudian kantong-kantong Kristen (Maluku, NTT, Sulut, Dayak, Batak, Toraja dan kemudian Papua) menyetujui bergabung dalam NKRI adalah dengan persyaratan bahwa semua agama mendapat perlakuan yang sama. Oleh karenanya orang Kristen harus mewaspadai semua argumen yang palsu tersebut. Piagam Jakarta akan menjadikan bahwa orang yang beragama Islam adalah kelompok istimewa dengan sendirinya. Interpretasi dan nuansa lebih lanjut dari pencantuman Pigam Jakarta jelas sangat akan berbeda dalam kehidupan bernegara. Saya menentang keras adanya pencatuman Piagam Jakarta. Dan apabila dipaksakan, maka dengan sendirinya mendorong orang Kristen untuk tersisih dari NKRI dan tawaran berikutnya adalah: Orang Kristen akan berjalan sendiri dengan pembentukan Negara Indonesia yang Pancasilais. Hancurnya kehidupan masyarakat Kristen di Maluku serta bergesernya keseimbangan populasi kelompok beragama antara Kristen dan Islam secara sangat drastis (akibat transmigrasi) seperti yang disinyalir belakangan ini, akan secara psikologis menekan bargaining position orang Kristen. Keadaan ini sudah terjadi di Maluku yaitu akibat adanya pendatang dan transmigrasi, maka orang Kristen sudah menjadi minoritas dan tekanan terhadap orang Kristen di semua lini telah menjadi sangat kuat. Lihat juga kasus Maluku Utara dimana 95% Camat yang ada semuanya beragama Islam begitu juga di kantor Pemda Tkt II. Semua bupati yang ada juga beragama Islam begitu juga pegawai Pemda. Konsekwensi ke arah ini sedang terjadi di Maluku dan Papua. Please pray also for one of our student names Selma who just lost her parents house last week. We desperately need international attention for this situation in Mollucas. SOS CABLE SOS CABLE SOS CABLE SOS CABLE SOS CABLE SOS CABLE We the community members of the Christian University in the Moluccas appeal to the Human Rights Commissions both of Indonesia and of the United Nations, regarding the fate of the Moluccan people right now. Since the 19th of January 1999, with the first outbreak of conflicts in the Molucca Islands (presented as Moslem and Christian conflicts) death toll has reached over 2.000 people (according to government statistics). This excluding the number wounded, maimed (also in thousands) and thousands of houses and public facilities being destroyed. There has been grave violations of human rights also, including rapes, kidnappings, tortures, murder of women and children, all throughout the conflicts. The conflicts are still continuing and are getting worse every day, especially since the arrival of the Jihad warriors from other parts of Indonesia, who came in thousands. These last two weeks the condition is deteriorating even more, due to heavy fighting using heavy armours, which destroy several Christian villages in the North and South Moluccas, and many parts of the Ambon City, mainly inhabited by the Christians. Thereby the number of displaced people is also escalating. The Christian University in the Moluccas, the oldest university in the province also lost its campus yesterday, after an attack by the Jihad warriors aided by the military personnel. Eyewitnesses speak of seeing a military armoured car being driven to the campus vicinity and started shooting at the buildings and the Jihad warriors followed with jugs filled with petrol or kerosene which set fire to the buildings. This is a great loss not only to the Christian community in the Moluccas but also to other faith communities since the students come from all faith backgrounds. People also collected on the campus area the remains of bullets, rockets fit to heavy machine guns usually used by the military forces. Also skeletons of hand grenades were found. It looks like genocide right now, with the Moluccan Christians being the main target. We therefore plead with the Human Rights Commissions to take serious action in ending violence and the human rights violation being committed now in the islands. We especially plead for help in evacuating the people especially women and children in the area. We also urge the United Nations to send a peace keeping force to the provinces. We cannot depend on the Indonesian Military Forces anymore since they appear to be incompetent in handling the conflicts all through. Just two days ago the compound of the Mobile Brigade in Tantui (Ambon) was attacked and burned down by the Jihad warriors and today a police compound in Ambon (Perigi Lima) was also attacked.
