Hi all,

If I had a chance to choose a new subject to study, I would take "sign
language" as my first priority. Does it seem so strange to you? It was really
strange to me about 2 months ago when a friend asked me to attend a sign
language class held by her friends. At first, I was very surprised at her
suggestion because I hadn't known that there was such class for students like
us in our country. I thought it was for the deaf mute only. However, after
listening to her explaination that it was the second popular language following
native languages I changed my mind. She said that more than one third people in
Western countries know and use this language in their everyday life even though
they're not hard of hearing or mute. It is an international language and really
interesting for every one to learn. Since then, I started feeling interested in
reading or watching things relating to this subject. Although I couldn't attend
that class for lack of time, I've done some search on the internet and found
many useful resources to study. One of them is the youtube.com website. If
you're also interested in this subject or want to know more about it, you can
follow this link and type "sing language" on the search box, dozens of lessons
will displace shortly.
Here is the link:

I really like this kind of language. According many researchs by psychologists,
sign language (body language) plays an important role in our communication,
accountting for more than a half of communication efficiency. It's incredible!
In my personal experience, It does not only help us communicate more
understandably but also creat more self-confidence and relaxation, which are
neccessary factors for us to communicate effectively and sucessfully.

If you're interested in this subject either, please raise your voice. I would
be very please to discuss about this interesting subject ^_^

Cheers,
Nam

Subject: [ESL Podcast] Re: A Subject to Study

  Hello,

If I would have the opportunity to study a new subject, I would choose
something related to children. I have a Master degree in Economics and I have
worked like an Economist several years. However, five years ago I became a mom
of a wonderful little boy and my whole life's changed.

During my years at the university and later in my work place, I was a
motivated student and an enthusiastic worker. I just found my subject
fascinating. However, when my little boy was born, I found him the best subject
of study I have never imagined.

Another important aspect to study something related to children, is that I
would be able to answer some of the questions I currently have. I would like to
learn more about what happen inside of their little heads. What they think,
how they react to different factors such a new brother, a divorce, a death and
so forth, how they learn....I am currently reading a book called " The
everything parent's guide to positive discipline". Reading that, I am getting a
professional advice for raising a well-behaved child.

To sump up, I think that this subject is waste enough to spend the rest of my
life learning new and interesting things. Now, I am working with children and I
am really happy. Someone says: "Choose a job you love and you will never have
to work a day in your life" In my case, it is true.

  Regards,
  Marina

      Hello All members.

If you could study a subject that you have never had the opportunity to
study, what would you choose?

Explain your choice, using specific reasons and details.

      Elham
