Hi Ross:

I don't know what was causing your byte complier issues.  But, the fact that
your system does not have SAS is irrelevant.  More importantly, byte compiling 
is
optional if your lisp files are on the load-path.  So, if your only problem is
byte compiling, then that can be worked around.  See Step 4 in the fine 
manual...
