Hello Newell, after make install and make modules_install you have to edit the file /etc/sysconfig/ethercat
Set the driver and the MAC address. If the ethercat card differnce to the normal network card you can set it to FF:FF:FF:FF.FF, please see the comments in the file. Regards Oliver >>> Newell Jensen <pillar2...@gmail.com> 11/8/2010 10:05 >>> Hello all, Looks like I am having the same problem as Oliver but unfortunately when I scour the mailing list, his solution is not stated for others (I think the emails between people weren't sent to the list maybe?). Here is a link to a thread that asks his question and then in a latter thread he is no longer getting this error due to the master working correctly and /dev/EtherCAT0 being created. The problem I am facing: http://www.mail-archive.com/etherlab-users@etherlab.org/msg00709.html Now it is solved: http://www.mail-archive.com/etherlab-users@etherlab.org/msg00721.html Anyone now how I can get past this? My setup is: OS: Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit kernel: 2.6.31-11-rt rtai: 3.7.1-1 ethercat master: 1.5 devel snapshot -- Newell IMPORTANT NOTICE - The contents of this email and attachments are confidential.
