Dear Oguz,
Perhaps it doesn't have drivers for these kernels (I didn't actually check that to be honest), but I still managed to install it all successfully using generic driver, and disabling the one that gets installed automatically (was it 8139too?). I did not observe any unwanted behaviour, and the communication runs flawlessly. I'm sorry, but I cannot help you with the dev version. The etherlab master 1.5.2 tar.bz2 file on the etherlab web site doesn't have drivers for kernels higher than 3.4. But you are using kernel 3.13. So I understand that you are using the development version by downlading "hg clone http://hg.code.sf.net/p/etherlabmaster/code ethercat-hg". Am I right? The installation according to IgH manual should work with no problem. I cannot advise you on any real-time interface, as our project employs CUDA, and we were unable to force Nvidia drivers to comply with any RT kernel patch. If you had any specific questions, I will be happy to answer them. We are using etherlab master 1.5.2 from the tar ball on the web site (http://www.etherlab.org/en/ethercat/). We use R8169 driver. We use CANopen over EtherCAT protocol. We want to upgrade our kernel version so that we can use newer device drivers (graphics, USB etc) I noticed, in ethercat master 1.5.2 tarball, the latest supported kernel version for ethernet drivers are 3.4. But in the development branch newer kernels are also supported. I'm having some porting problems with different distros and RTAI versions. Most likely they are due to my mistakes. But I want to be sure that I'm going to the right direction. So, * Can you suggest a verifed newer linux distro, kernel, RTAI version? Which versions / distros are you using? Can I use RTAI 5.1? * Also is it safe to use the development version with (or without) Gavin's patches (https://sourceforge.net/u/uecasm/etherlab-patches/ci/default/tree/#readme)? Should I be aware of some potential problems?
