You may also want to look at PulseAudio http://pulseaudio.org/ From what I can gather from a casual look, it seems more end-user focused, while JACK seems more geared towards sound professionals. While mplayer doesn't support PulseAudio directly, there is a patch on the PulseAudio website to let mplayer support PulseAudio, and PulseAudio can also act as an Esound server, which mplayer supports. And one good thing about it is that since it can act as an Esound server, it can be used to serve GNOME sounds as well. -- Hubert Chan - email & Jabber: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - http://www.uhoreg.ca/ PGP/GnuPG key: 1024D/124B61FA (Key available at wwwkeys.pgp.net) Fingerprint: 96C5 012F 5F74 A5F7 1FF7 5291 AF29 C719 124B 61FA _______________________________________________ Etoile-discuss mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/etoile-discuss
