  Thank you for this information.
  It does look interesting.
  If we use mplayer, gstreamer or xine as backend,
  both solutions are covered by backend.
  So users can choose any of them as long as they set the environment right.
  Alert sound need to write directly into the audio server.
  But I think we are in no hurry to make a decision.
  We probably can wait a while to see which project stands in the end. :D
