actually microsoft ics does seem to handle port forwarding (at least on my win2k box). it doesn't do full port forwarding, but it does certain things (ftp, pop,3 smtp, imap3, imap4, and telnet). i haven't personally tried it, but it's there. another thing is... if the gateway machine is a winnt or win2k server, it might be using routing and remote access for the NAT, which is possible. i don't know much about those, but i know those are an option and i would assume they do port forwarding since they're supposed to be server operating systems.
