hello all heres the quick jist: archive your shns, dont convert to wav. and then reconvert to shn later, its polluting the trading pool.
ive been noticing that alot of people dont archive. i think from talking to several kids, that some dont realize the effects of this. everytime you rip, meaning converting from wav format back to shn, the sound quality is reduced. it doesnt matter if your not dealing with mp3 or if it came from shn originally, once you convert an shn, you can never restore the sound quality completely. everytime you convert shn format to wav and then back, it is not the same file as it once was, its a smaller file and thus not as high quality. if this is done several times, pops, clicks, hiss, any of these things can begin to appear. i know there are those in the EAC corner, fact is most people dont know how to use this properly, and even then, alot of times the checksum is different. this is polluting the trading pool. we all rely on each other, because we all end up down the line somewhere on the trading wheel. sometimes we never even know cause people who rip usually dont update the textfile. etree was started (people for a clearer phish) so we could ensure quality shows. the people who make up this community should be concerned with this. if you are not, or dont care or dont want to spend money on the extra discs for archiving, please there are far more groups out there for trading other formats that are easier, less expensive, less time consuming... please if your not interested in archiving, find oone of these groups theres a ton of them. so please, once you get an shn show, archive, meaning burn that shn show to disc. you will need a program that allows this such as Nero. once the shn show is backed up on disc, you can convert it to audio to burn for your listening pleasure. then if you need to trade that show, youve got it in shn format on disc and just need to copy it back to disc and burn. any question please ask me, off list. fare thee well jer wob: 10 etrades in rotating order, ill open my machine up to one person at a time, then the next and so on. any phish show from fall '97. hishspeed only, if you dont have the capability, then bnp will be fine, HQ discs only, no Sonys or Kodaks. put "JER" in the subject matter and reply to me offlist. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. _______________________________________________ etree.org etrade mailing list <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe go to: http://mail.etree.org/mailman/listinfo/etrade Need help?
