I've been using Eudora for about 6 or 7 years now and have never had a
problem with it. For the past year or two it's been available as fully
functional freeware with just a small ad in the lower left corner (about
200 pix squared). It used to be an independent but at some point has been
purchased by Qualcomm. I only use Outlook at work (begrudginly) and find
it to be much more of a pain in the ass than it's
worth. http://www.eudora.com/

As for the security issue . . . any program is going to have some bugs or
holes that need to be patched. However, most mainstream viruses are set up
to exploit the weaknesses in MS Outlook and not Eudora or Netscape
Messenger or AOHELL. MS is large, popular and despised by many -
particularly those who create the viruses. Even with the most secure
software if you have people bombarding it like they do with MS products
you'll have breaches. Therefore it just makes sense to go with stronger
software that isn't targeted by teh nefarious.

And - while I'm on an anti Gates rant let me point out to people that there
is an alternate browser out there which in many ways is far superior to
either Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. Opera is running on most
of the systems I use and I find that I choose it more often than Netscape
and about as often as IE. Give it a try if you want to try not to support
the king. http://www.opera.com/

So - if you've made it this far then you're obviously looking for the WOB
tax. Well you know what? Because we don't do taxes out here in Oregon I
ain't gonna offer one. Nope. However, 'cause y'all are just so cool I'll
offer a freebie of the Allman Bros Band 12-31-73 (w/ Jerry, Billy & Boz
Scaggs) up to the first person who can tell what logo is on the t'shirt
Cheech is wearing in the picure window when he's smelling the ripe ladies
in Nice Dreams.
