That's weird.  With OS 8.6, OS 9x and OS Xx, I never installed any 
additional extensions for Joliet file systems, and I never had a problem 
with Joliet disks.
I did have Toast and Jam installed, and maybe they automatically install 
the Joliet capability. But if you have a Mac and you're on this list, 
you probably have one or the other installed, if not both.

But I also seem to recall (this was a few years ago) getting Joliet 
seeds and this was before I had Jam, and I only had Toast 3.x.  Never 
had a prob with opening them.  I haven't tried on OS X.
