Alan -

Some members of ANY given group will not be able to exhibit their most
efficacious interpersonal-relationship skills by virtue of their written
capacity in responses or, gasp! -even flames to a web list. Bearing
this in mind, there is an instinctual response that can be observed in
the degree of commitment in their vehemence (or insight) of comment to
said list(s) that is clearly visible to any outsider (i.e., newby).

I would humbly suggest you contact someone who can walk you through
setting up a webpage, instead of knocking on the 1,000 + wrong door(s)
of an obvious public of music-traders (although there may be
webpage-proficient members of that list in their own right, and I'm sure
there are).

I'm concerned that there is a public apprehension of a -mostly
benevolent and helpful- online music-trading community that is generally
regarded as one who observes a "newbie" policy of "shut the fuck up" and
"suffer on their own" -clearly, this is a negative regard. And, for the
record, this has not been (overall) my experience with advice/help on
either the smegs or etree list.

I -for one- grow tired of reading about newby-this, newby-that, even
though I am STILL a newby.

I run my own server, it's not the best one out there.

I read posts that look interesting, mayhaps that can offer some insight
to my current conundrum, and when I need help beyond that, I contact
someone -off list!

Courtesy and good manners go a long way. Thank you's and please's have
gotten me more help than (even mildy-perceived) rants. And I've sent my
share of those in too.

Alan, want to build a webpage? I assume you can get in contact with
people with whom you FTP, right? Well, start by asking there. Nothing
wrong with a general cry 'help,' but everything in moderation right?
Ask for help, cut the shots, it'll get you more.

The desire to get 'trading-capable' and the impetus to act on
accomplishing that goal, is a LONG road. I've been working on it for a
couple of months now, and I don't even HAVE a list. Don't need one.

Need to chat more, send me a response. I'll be glad to talk to you,
even put you in contact with some good (list(s)) people.

'till then. I mean, at least you're reading the FAQ and help pages
-that's a START.

OK. I read the whole introduction pages for newbies, checked out the
FAQ's,
and even tried to get some help in the chat room, but nobody would help
me
to understand how to set up a page with a list of my shows (few as they
may
be). It seems that everyone in etree has a web page with a list of
their
shit, yet I can't find the info on it at all. I realize that I am
setting
myself up for tons of ridicule from most of the etree people who think
that
newbies should suffer on their own and shut the fuck up, but I am
praying
for just one KIND person to give me a link, a point in the right
direction,
or some information on how to do this. Thank you to those that help,
and I
am sorry for burdening the rest of you with my existence.

Have a Grateful Day,
Alan
