Hey etree!

I am seeking opinions. E-mail me directly or post to the list if you
think the community would benefit. If you e-mail me something
directly and I feel the group could benefit I may post what you say to
the list.

I did a trade recently for one show. The show the other guy got was a
show I have in shn that matches the etree database. Well after we
completed our trade, he contacted me regarding two cuts on two of
separate tracks that he had noticed, asking if the cuts were present
on my copy. I was unaware of these cuts until he brought them to my
attention. I researched it and yes, in fact these were undocumented
cuts in the original seed.

Now I had listened to this show before, but usually when I get a show
and listen to it, I am either not in front of the computer or I am
doing something else so my full attention is not devoted to analyzing
and documenting flaws in the recording. I try to spot check
everything I get for sound quality before I make audio discs but
rarely listen to the whole show in detail. I know I listened to this
show but I never noticed these cuts.

Once I did notice them I added the flaws (cuts and times where they
happened) to the text file and also added a comment to the database
entry for this show.

Now this guy is a CDR only trader (doesn't do shn). I wish I could
get some of the stuff he has/tapes in shn but some of the less popular
music can only be obtained in audio format. I know he is a taper
also. Anyway he likes to offer up shows to a another list
(particularly brand spanking new stuff) and then get a bunch of trades
for what he is offering. This guy doesn't ever offer to spread the
music unless he is getting something. I know, I know, to each his
own, however he recently refused a trade with me when I could not
provide detailed flaw analysis for the shows he wanted. This guys
never provides any information about what he has, not even a
setlist/text file, let alone a flaw analysis.

Now to the seeking opinions part.

Ignoring the obvious hypocrisy of asking someone else to do something
for you that you are not willing to do for them:

Should I only offer shows I have for trade that I have done a detailed
flaw analysis?

Is it my responsibility to be aware of all quality issues with all of
the recordings I have?
