What level college course is this for?

Snip:

I'm curious what the members of this group think the experience of a
work of art is entails.
In fact, I might write a paper on the topic and so this may contribute
to the content of that paper in some way depending on whether/what
people reply.

What is a work of art?
What distinguishes the audience's experience of a piece of music from,
for example, an aesthetic appreciation of a sunset?
Is art always mimetic? (That is, does all art imitate reality in some
way?)
How would you characterize your experience of an excellent work of art
(a live performance of a song, for example)? [And note that I'm not
interested in drug-induced experience.]

Anyone have any thoughts on these questions?

Peace,
Jeff
