I'm not an expert on this, but ssh makes a "secure tunnel" for all your data. In other words, if you can run it, you can run it on ssh. It's a good way to go from your network through your firewall and then through another firewall and into a network. So, you could run VNC, which you don't necessarily want everybody in the world to use on your computer so you block it off at the firewall, from outside of the firewall. --Mike Michael J.
