Thanks for the reply, Mike. I think I have found my problem regarding the unstable installation and bootup crashes. It seems the problem may be lying within the RAM chips. After yet another troubleshooting test, I've found that removing the RAM chips from the computer and putting them in another computer, the other computer crashed at bootup. I'll know for sure by Wednesday when I get new ram.. or after I place the new motherboard on the Linux box later tonight. Hope that's all it is. James
