one really obvious thing to check: do you really have enough disk space
to spool that large of a file? Spooling typically occurs in /var which
*sometimes* is on the same partition as root or on its own
partition. In either case it does not necissarily have the space for a
large file. This is easily fixed by linking the lpd spool directory to
someplace that has more space. Anyways just something you should check
before ripping out your printing system :)
