If the isp is offering a no-strings (or banners) attached standard tcp-ip
type connection (like most isp's other than AOL offer) then the only thing
you might need on your linux machine is a ppp dialer which you already
have in linux. Standard browsers like Netscape work on top of that layer.

Without ads, where are they getting the revenue to give the service away?
Maybe you become an automatic spam target, or they sell your demographic
data, or their software automatically sets their portal as the default home
page...?
