So you've done something with an expect script, I assume?
If you're using kppp, you can build your script in the GUI,
and either way, you could write a shell-based expect script...
I think UOnet's dialup server(s) are pretty finicky, I had to toy around
with a good bit of trial and error to get logged in and then again to
activate ppp.  I haven't used dialup in a while though, 'hope this helped.
