Thank you all for the Scanner info.
I surfed the Web for SANE stuff and printed out a lot of pages; downloaded
some software for Stan.
I'll stop by Stan's place today and drop this stuff off. Stan says that later
today his customer will bring in the scanner.
Unfortunately, from what I have read, the software has to be customized for
the specific make and model of scanner. On top of the "imitation" SCSI on the
parallel port.
If anyone has done any "parallel port for non-printer device" stuff, I'm
certain that Stan would benefit from what you already know.
I recall that RH.61 required some one-time voodoo such as "modprobe
paraport_PC", so I suspect that this is a step in the right direction for
scanner on parallel port as well.
