Hi Woody -- I thought an ISO was a bit copy of a CD. So, if the CD was bootable, the new CD would be also. I talked to Stan last night and he thought so too. I'm using Easy Creator 4 in Windows. Am I wrong about ISOs? I'll check the readme. Thanks. I like Slackware because, like you said, it's rock stable. We build servers and fire walls and Slack is the cleanest. I don't have much experience with desktop stuff and after watching Seth and Mike solve various problems at the Thursday meetings, I wish I had time to dive into it. There are so many really cool things you can do and, the way Linux and X are structured, I can see and understand how and why it works. It's a lot harder to "get under the hood" in Windows. Thanks again. Bob >>> "S.W. I think S7 is the best overall distro for my tastes and have been a satisfied slacker for 4 years now. It is rock stable with the 2.2.13 kernel. I have just gone to the 2.2.14 kernel and have some instabilities. Unknown if it's the kernel yet. I do like a lot of the "extras" included with the Mandrake 7 distro though. S7 does include the rpm as unsupported in the distro, so you can install RH or M7 packages easily. I still much prefer pkgtool. YMMV. Let me know what you think. Also, I can help with most config issues also should you have questions. Woody Bob Crandell wrote: > > I made an ISO file from a Slack 7 CD. The Slack 7 CD is bootable.
