Hi Bob -- You're right about ISO and CDs. The confusion your experiencing is, I think, that S7 is not a bootable disk. It remains fairly traditional. The readme in ".eltorito" tells haow to make a bootable cd. There is a rather interesting interview with Paul Volkerding the primary Slackware maintainer.
