I think I understand why those folx moved on....
While I might sound like a bit of a jerk for saying so, $8.00 for the
job description is a joke. The base pay for this job, considering the
skills asked for, should be *at least* twice what these folx wish to
pay. You should also expect full medical and dental, for yourself
and dependents, plus paid vacation, sick leave, and, in the private
sector, bonuses. This doesn't even include educational benefits. I
make about twice that, not including benefits, and I work in the
public sector, and only have 2 years on-the-job experience. My
first IT job paid $11 hr, plus full benefits.
According to Infoworld, the *average* salary for a private-sector *nix
system administrator in this region is $69K yearly, plus benefits,
based on an average 48-hour workweek.
