boot time

I use SuSE 6.3 on my laptop, and when it's NOT connected to the Ether at
boot, it waits about two and a half minutes for a signal there :-(

Could anyone PLEASE tell me what file to edit, what argument to change,
etc.... I only need about a 5-second delay there; if ethernet exists it
tends to respond quickly.
