Run Drakconf (either login as root and run it or run it as a normal user and
give the root password when prompted) and run drakfont from there. It
auto-detects all the truetype fonts installed on your machine (windows
partition, too--try running updatedb first just to make sure that all the files
on your system are in the locate database) and converts them to X. Sometimes,
the TTF's get a little crazy (ie, they don't seem to follow their own
standard), so if it seems that drakfont isn't importing them right (or not at
all), try importing individual fonts. In Mandrake, there is a daemon called
xfsd that runs the font converter for TTF's. You can turn it on with linuxconf
or rc scripts (/etc/rc.d/init.d/xfsd start). Unfortunately, I would rather see
the "other" xfs--the tasty morsel of a filesystem being ported to GPL by SGI,
and I hoped that the xfsd would have something to do with that.
