that is encouraging news... I went to the Linux on laptops place and sure
enough there are several entries just for this model... mostly bad links
anymore... gee... does obsolesance have to come so quickly???
I'm still traveling... I can't get to the meetings until I return to
Eugene... if I could, I'd love to have someone who actually knows what they
are doing install Linux on this thing... it seems to have been designed for
windoze and I have win98 running on it just fine... if nothing else windoze
installs easy...
well, there is a thought, I could see if there is a friendly group of Linux
nerds locally and see if I can't get one of them to do it... though I doubt
that I'd find a better group than the collection in Eugene...
LindaC, sending several smiles to everyone...

success with them. Infact, i would recommend toshiba for a someone that
wanted to use linux. You may have trouble with sound and pcmcia, like rob
mentioned... if you do... bring it down to the meetings... The reason that
you may have difficulties, is because those are often the sticky parts...
not because toshiba's are more difficult in that area.... pcmcia, and sound
can be difficult for users to get working, regardless of the
distro/hardware. The few times Ive done toshiba laptops, i had no problems
with them, but i did have a software modem that didnt want to play nice :(
