Hi all,
I was having this problem with my system becoming increasingly
slower, and it's only gotten worse.
Currently, what happens is, the system seems to work okay off line,
until I get on line, then it gets slow. I've been using KFM as a
browser because it seems to work without suspending.
I would really like to be able to use Netscape but when I don't have
all the time in the world. It chokes up for minutes at a time,
works for a few seconds, goes dead, and so on. Is there some way to
do a diagnostic on this?
Another thing: when it does hang, like when a cookie prompt comes up
and I've clicked on bookmarks, and it just goes dead, the only way I
get it to respond id <ctl> <alt> backspace. Which does system
suspend, then I have to reboot anyway. What is really bugging me is
I have no control over the system and no way to find out why.
In Konsole I use TOP and look at system resources, and the KDE Task
manager gives me similar information, none of it showing any
problem. How do you get a command line? In Konsole it seems to
only accept commands as listed in help.

You may recall my system from a previous message:

There's a bug in my system and I wonder if anyone's seen it before.
I know my system is modest compared to many, but we all have to
start somewhere. Since my purchase last November I've heard
several people say the Cyrix 333 chip is less than perfect. As in
"it chokes up." I'm stuck with this chip for the time being, since
I have no money to throw at the problem. (still looking for
gainful employment)
By putting my cursor on K, going to Settings, and looking at the
various results of Information, I get this:
~~~~~~
The chip registers as 263 MHz.
