        Hmmm... Ive found simular problems with versions of netscape 
newer than 4.6.1, If you can, you might try to remove your current 
version, and install an older version.

Using CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE is a second to last resort... its 
harsh, so if you don't have to do it, don't. It kills your x session, but 
leaves the process's running (including all your x applications). Ive 
had pretty good success using:
killall kdm
(or whatever you use for WM selection/login) after doing a CTRL-
ALT-BACKSPACE. You may try it instead of rebooting. 
You might want to try ktop instead of top, its easier for most gui 
people.
