In X 4.0, the XF86Config file has been moved from it's position in two places
(usr/X11R6/lib/X11 and /etc/X11) to just /etc/X11.

I have been playing with X 4.0 a little. I have had the best success when I let
XFree86 run an autoconfiguration with a new XF86Config file, then modify it manually.

As root, run XFree86 -configure
It will put a XF86Config.new file in your root directory (/root, not /)

The format for the file is different than the old version. In my file, I don't have
any resolutions, as it chooses 1024x768 by default (it detects I have an LCD panel of
this res, and uses it).

I manually entered in some resolutions, and the color depth I wanted.

I am unconvinced XF86Setup is exactly designed for version 4, as X4 doesn't like the
setup files I've made with it. I doubt DrakConf is designed to configure X4 as well.

At this point, X4 is still making it's way into packages (rpm/deb, etc). Your best
bet is to either wait for distros to make it easy, or manually edit the file.

Try 'man XF86Config' for details. Make sure the man page you are viewing says Version
4.0.1 or something similar (on the page breaks). You can also try using the xf86config
(or xf86cfg) utility.
