No should really need tivo, but I think it's a great consumer product.
If you get a tv-tuner card in your pc, these cards can be had starting
around $50, and a decent 40gig drive (ata/100, 7200rpm) for $200.
Hacking a la IOpener is way cool... but it's not really necessary for most
of us; it is far easier to add a pci card and an extra hard drive to the
computer we already have, than to try to add ether to a black box!!
Freshmeat just had some listing of a tvguide program, that parses out the
into from tvguide.com, into tabbed plaintext :)
