That plan 9 stuff sounds wonderful. That can really pave the road for the internet to become a large cluster. Ananova's dream to be able to follow us around to any terminal we visit (ananova.com), to give us news, or search for information. Bill Gate's dream to be able to follow us around to any terminal we visit (microsoft.com), to take our money, and sap our will. A hacker's dream to be able to go to any terminal and have his or her whole development and hacking environment available. Some stuff I heard about IPv6 while watching the defcon 7 archived movies (last year's) (defcon.org). There's no reason an ip address should stay in one locale. Apparently IP addresses should be able to move around. So if I have an IP address for my laptop, I can plug in at home, at work, at school and expect this same IP to work.
