[EUG-LUG:5233] MOdem blues

                Hello LUG'ers , I have another question for you.  I'm trying to get my 
Linux box to see my modem again, but it just is not working.  At first I 
thought the serial port had failed, but I can plug a serial mouse into it 
and kudzu will see it.  Do I need a new modem cable or is it something else 
I'm missing?  Any help would be appreciated
