(I thought I sent this Friday, but don't see it in the archives ...
sorry if you are seeing it for the second time)
After long mystification about why my linux systems (RH 6.0) could
mount older Zip disks but not more recent ones, I think I now
understand that it is because the newest ones are coming with Fat32
file systems, whereas my system understands only msdos, umsdos,
fat16, and vfat among Dos/Windows file formats. Does that sound
right? If so, the potential fixes seem to be ---
* Patch the kernel ... but I see fat32 patches only up through 2.0,
and I seem to be running a 2.2 kernel now.
* Get a new distro ... I'd prefer to stay with RH if practical.
* Reformat zip disks to an older file system ... (how?)
or maybe something else I haven't thought of.
Advice?
Thanks.
