If we're going into politics (as it seems we must)
here's some ideas to maximise the effort/effect ratio

a: do write congresspeople and senators they do pay attention to volume
and to personal effort required(i.e. 1 handwritten letter == 1000 emails)
 {i once got a very nice letter from Gordon Smith saying he had no plans
to do anything about repealing DMCA}

b: we (EUGLUG) could ask defazio, aucoin, and smith to come and talk to us
at one of our meetings, it would be our chance to educate them about OSS
and how having the source and the freedom to alter and redistribute it
represent the core american values of free speech and the free exchange of
ideas.

c: we should be putting some effort into educating local leaders and
organizations about the benefits of linux/gnu/opensource, both
practical and philosophical.

d: maybe EFF and FSF have some materials we could copy and redistribute
