download the "Handspring Product Guide" for your particular model.  it'll
have pinout descriptions for the cradle on page 12 (for a normal visor).  it
may differ for other models...  basically, you need to short pins 3 & 4 to
start a hotsync operation.  if you can get this to work, please let me know!

there's also some information on Palm.com about testing the cradle interface
using a terminal window.
