I'm passing a message in lilo.conf in the line:
append="opti hdc=ide-scsi"
and then the boot messages report
hdc: driver not present
I feel like I'm making progress but being a dummy about it;
I didn't think there was a specific mod for the burner,
Other messages from 'dmesg', before that error message, are
ide-setup: hdc=ide-scsi
then later (also before the error above)
hdc: PLEXTOR CD-R PX-yadayada, ATAPI CDROM drive
which is on ide1
ide0 is a data drive, which I've recently been having
trouble with -- since I got it recognized, and tried to
re-run lilo, lilo complained that its root was not on the
"first" hard disk. I had been booting from my scsi drive,
and had to just install lilo on the MBR of the primary ide
hd; ended up doing this command to rescue my boxen:
chroot /dev/hda /sbin/lilo -v -v
Well that was 'fun' but I still don't have access to
the burner... at least I'm past the point of turned-around
ide cable -- if anyone has any clues please send them along!
