If you use mandrake, and want to get started with the 2.4 series kernel,
I suggest trying their "Traktopel" (8.0 beta)... they just released a 3rd
(yes, THIRD) beta on 4/2... I downloaded the two iso's this morning,
as I have been using the 2nd beta for about a week now.

For mandrake users, this is prolly the simplest upgrade path possible,
just boot the cd and select "upgrade" rather than "install";
it takes a while to go through a system full of package interdependencies
but boots right up with the same network/module/lilo/desktop
configurations from what I've seen. I have had some system hangs, but I
cannot be certain it's from this update, I've screwed with many many libs
by compiling source on my system, (X4.02 by hand screwed the rpm's!),
so I'm hoping the 3rd beta is even more stable. I'm basically riding out
the updates until I can't take it anymore -- does anyone know when
debian's woody will be let loose? I may just install potato and point
apt to a newer tree... anyone using the woody tree? I'm wondering how
stable it is -- looks pretty worked out for x86 arch, seems like most of
the work left is in arm and etc archiectures.
