well,
i dunno, i live with limited disk space and every time i use
dselect i get confused about what it is and isn't installing
and it's darn near unreadable,
hmmm,
i'd split it into three panels(or pages if using an html widget)
something like this:
________________________________________________________
|installed |selected |available
|+-kernel |+-freesim |+-coolshit
|+-X11 || +gtk |+-more-coolshit
|+-emacs |+-angstrom-server |+-even-cooler
you get the idea?
that way someone using it knows at a glance where they are at
in the task, what's going to be installed once they commit it
and where they can find more stuff, handle conflicts with little popup
boxes, etc.
hmm' how to read pkgcache.bin compare it to the output from dpkg -l
if..
