I've got @home. It works just fine with linux and FreeBSD (both I've tried). Currently I've got a FreeBSD acting as a firewall/gateway, then I've got other machines connecting into a hub using the same cable internet line. It works out real nice. I've heard that some setups are using USB ports, but mine is a cable going to the cable modem, then connecting ethernet wire from the cable modem to your ethernet card. I think you'll also have to deal with DHCP. Mine was set up as DHCP, even though they issue me the same IP address when I re-lease the IP. If you need any config files or hints, I'd be happy to send them out (for FreeBSD anyway). -Rob > On 20010523.1614, Sam Crow said ... > > I have two questions, the first being about cable access.
