I actually started a frequency count before recognizing the pattern =P As poorly as our Government manages to keep secrets, the back doors would be in the hands of China, Russia, and anybody friendly to them in no time. If you build a backdoor, it will be found. Especially if everybody knows that there must be one there. Make text encryption illegal without a backdoor, and people wanting privacy will simply come up with a different method of secure communication. Crippling security with back doors is a very dangerous mistake. I'm thinking politicians should be kept away from encryption the way children should be kept away from nail guns.
