maybe i went a little too far with that.  what i really want is a
super-user/administrator/god account on my computer that isn't root, but can
do everything root can do.  that way, i can logon once and just forget about
su and root.  maybe then i'll feel like i have a say in how my computer
works.

then again, maybe i'm just not cut out for computers anymore.  or maybe i
need a computer-savvy speech writer.  i'm probably just bitter.

On a more practical level, you can give your regular login account universal
sudo privileges and set it to not require a password; then all those "su +
password" sessions would be reduced prepending your command with sudo.
This may not be such a good idea, however.
