I couldn't get Evolution to send mail through Prodigy at first either but after fiddling around with my settings and giving up, the next time I rebooted it worked.
Here are the settings that worked for me on Prodigy: In Tools / Mail Settings / Edit Account / Sending Mail, I have SMTP selected as the server type, secure connection is turned off, and requires authentication is turned off. The only other thing that may be a factor is on the identity tab: are you using you @home e-mail address under required information? Many services check this before they will allow you to send mail. If you put some other e-mail address in there (like [EMAIL PROTECTED]) ATT may not allow you use their smtp server. Hope this helps, Dexter >-----Original Message----- >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of >Justin Bengtson >Sent: Thursday, November 15, 2001 09:06 >To: 'euglug' >Subject: [EUG-LUG:56] 8-bit MIME and Evolution > > >i'm having a great time with evolution. wonderful program, good set of >features. it looks way too much like outlook, though. > >anyway, i am having trouble sending mail through it. i checked their >support documents and followed their instructions to capture the commands as >they were sent out. @home says they don't support the authentication type >"Plain". it wants 8-bit MIME. what exactly is 8-bit MIME and does anyone >know if it is supported by evolution? i checked google for a good hour and >found a couple of misleading documents. > >
