Balance in all things, including balance.

I honestly don't feel that the list content is a big problem. Yes, at
times, it's
a bit 'much', maybe too geeky, too strident... So? Name me a list that
doesn't
get that way at times...

I agree an announcement only is a good idea, and one we should have.
We should also add people to the list, at events, etc...

If you want to contribute, taking a stand is the first step. Find an itch
to scratch
like anything else in free software, that's really helps. Do not worry
about being
'knowledgable', you will learn more. Time and Interest are the important
things
and that does require commitment, even if it's not a huge one.

Well, we've had leadership by default (meaning that nobody expressed
interest
in otherwise, so we continued as before.... thus my dictatorship for life
um... I mean
presidency. I have made noises before about someone else taking over...
and thus
far, nobody seems to want the hotseat. That was/is one of the topics on my
discussion
list for the meeting...

netnews is dead. It's so far the WRONG direction to take the conversation,
let's
not even attempt to go there. I'd much rather see a strong mailinglist <->
web
connection... If someone like Patrick finds it easier to use a news reader,
then
doing a mail <->news gateway is an option, but that's a slim requesting
minority, I'd
suspect.
